Below are volunteer job descriptions for AAJA San Diego’s committees. You can be a member of any committee and be involved in more than one.

Note: We are currently seeking chairpersons for the fundraising and outreach committee.

Board Committees are sub-committees of the board of directors and work with staff to lead and produce ongoing work of AAJA San Diego. Board Committees meet monthly and engage in work outside of meetings to advance overall work.  Members of board committees should expect to volunteer between 5 to 10 hours per month.

• The  Programs Committee is responsible for creating and organizing events (professional development events, mixers, workshops) and bringing recommendations for funding to the Board.
• The Outreach Committee is responsible for promoting AAJA San Diego’s mission and operations to students, professional journalists, local organizations, and local community.
• The Fundraising Committee is responsible for working with staff to develop a strategic plan for funding AAJA’s mission and operations.
• The Board Development Committee is responsible for cultivating board and committee members and their relationship to AAJA’s mission and operations.
