AAJA San Diego is welcoming our new national board representative, Jenny Hamel. A reporter and anchor for San Diego Channel 6 The CW News, Hamel will be the liaison between San Diego and the national board. She will attend conferences on behalf of San Diego and the annual convention.

AAJA-SD is very excited about Hamel’s involvement. She will be a judge at AAJA’s Talent Show, which will be held in late January of next year.

Jenny Hamel has been in the news business for the past seven years, working both as a reporter and an anchor. She’s won multiple awards for her reporting, and most recently was nominated for an Emmy in the category of Journalistic Enterprise.
In 2007, Jenny was on the frontlines of the October wildfires that ravaged San Diego. In addition to doing countless live shots for her hometown viewers and affiliates nationwide, Jenny appeared on the FOX News network throughout that week, reporting for such shows as B Block with Shepard Smith and Geraldo Rivera’s At Large program.
Jenny is a San Diego native and has been working as a reporter/fill-in anchor for San Diego 6 News the CW (formerly known as FOX6 News) for the past four years. Prior to her return to San Diego, Jenny started her career in Fayetteville, Arkansas where she worked as the Weekend Anchor/Reporter.
Jenny is a graduate of UCLA, where she received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Before getting into the news industry, Jenny spent a year working in Europe for an online travel guide, and lists cliff diving in Croatia as one of her favorite experiences!
