SPJ Presents “Women in Journalism” Panel

Women have come a long way in the past 40 years, and SPJ’s San Diego Pro Chapter will look at the challenges they have faced and the successes they have enjoyed at a special “Women in Journalism” program Thursday, Nov. 12.
Join a panel of San Diego’s well known women journalists as they look back at the road women have traveled in newsrooms, anchor desks and behind the mike and as they discuss the role women play in the new media era.
Panel includes:
Carol LeBeau, former KGTV 10News anchor who recently retired after 28 years
Maureen Cavanaugh, host of KPBS’s “These Days” and a former anchor for KSDO and KOGO
Gina Lubrano, veteran reporter and former reader’s representative for the San Diego Union-Tribune
Tracy Greer, North County Times online editor and former sportswriter
Pat Brown, Former NBC 7/39 weather anchor, will moderate the discussion.
Directions
From the North: Take I-5 South. Exit at Sea World Drive and Tecolote Road and proceed left at stoplight toward Morena Boulevard. Turn right on Morena Boulevard. Turn left on Napa. Turn left on Linda Vista Road. Travel to the 2nd stoplight to USD’s East entrance, turn left and enter campus. The Degheri Alumni Center is the first building on the left.
From the South: Take I-5 North. Exit at Morena Boulevard (signs will say: Morena Blvd. use I-8 East). Stay to the right and follow the signs for Morena Boulevard. Take the first right onto Linda Vista Road. Travel to the 3rd stoplight to USD’s east entrance, turn left and enter campus. The Degheri Alumni Center is the first building on the left.
From the East: Take I-8 West. Exit at Morena Boulevard. Turn right onto Linda Vista Road. Travel to the 3rd stoplight to USD’s East entrance, turn left and enter campus. The Degheri Alumni Center is the first building on the left.
*Free parking is available in the Mission Parking Structure, across Torero Way from the Degheri Alumni Center. Get a visitor’s parking pass at the kiosk at the East entrance.
