As more and more news and features move to the web from print, journalists and public relations professionals are realizing they need to hone their skills and learn new approaches to writing and media. Our panel of experienced journalists, all of whom started writing for print publications but have transitioned to the web, will discuss what you need to know now to write for web-based publications, how writing for the web differs in tone, content, style and immediacy and how to find work in the new web-based world.
Our panelists are:
Scott Lewis, CEO of voiceofsandiego.org
Helen Chang, Business Editor of San Diego News Network
Ron Donoho, former Executive Editor of San Diego Magazine and now a featured contributor to NBCsandiego.com and other publications.
There will be handouts with lots of resources gathered from the previous workshops, checklists, contacts for government agencies and more. Please come with your questions and concerns – we are here to help you in this time of transition.
The event will begin with a reception and networking with light hors d’oeuvres and wine from 6-6:30 p.m. and the panel discussion, with plenty of time for Q&A, from 6:30-8 p.m.
